When I first heard this instrumental I was reminded of the era of gangster rap from the nineties. It feels like an homage to the days of grandiose verses about immense lavishes and unending riches, with incredible flows to back up the boasts. And when it comes to gangster rap, nobody sends a more believable and powerful statement than Biggie Smalls.
The verse is a little too short for the beat, but I just let the instrumental run out instead of cutting it short.
This was made using Oddisee's "Chuck Brown" and Biggie Small's "You'll See".
Oddisee is one of the many up-and-coming beatmakers in this new wave of production whose ability and raw talent is truly jaw-dropping. Just skip over Asher Roth's verse. Yuck. Arby Wan Kenobi
